Terms of Use

Last updated: 15 June 2026

1. The service

Fakturate ("the service") provides browser-based tools for creating and checking electronic invoices (e.g. EN 16931 / XRechnung / Peppol BIS formats). The free generator and validator run in your browser; invoice data entered there is processed on your device. The invite-only API processes submitted invoice data transiently to return generated XML and does not retain invoice contents.

2. No professional advice

The service provides software tooling, not legal, tax or accounting advice. Invoicing, VAT and e-invoicing obligations differ by country and by situation. You are responsible for verifying that invoices you issue meet your legal obligations — consult a qualified tax advisor or accountant where needed.

3. Provided "as is" — no warranty

The service is provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that generated or validated files are accepted by any particular recipient, platform, network or authority, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

4. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data or business opportunity, arising out of or related to your use of the service. To the extent liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months preceding the claim (for the free service: zero). Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for intent or gross negligence.

5. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of the data you enter and the invoices you create. You agree not to use the service for unlawful purposes, to misrepresent invoice data, or to attempt to disrupt the service.

6. API beta

API access is invite-only, experimental and provided without a service-level agreement. You must keep API keys confidential, use them only from trusted server-side systems, and notify us if a key may have been exposed. We may rotate, suspend or revoke keys to protect the service or enforce reasonable usage limits.

API V1 performs input and semantic validation and generates XML using an engine tested against official rule sets. It does not execute official XSD or Schematron validation separately for every request. Response headers and API documentation identify the validation level applied.

7. Intellectual property

The service, including its code, design and content, is protected by copyright. You may use the service for creating and validating your own invoices (commercial use of the generated invoices is, of course, the point). You may not copy, resell or re-host the service itself without permission.

8. Changes

We may modify or discontinue the service or these terms at any time. The current version of these terms is published on this page.
